I read to gain knowledge. Now, you don’t have to read boring old textbooks to gain knowledge. Some works of fiction have bits of factual information. My favorite is Peeps, by Scott Westerfield. Peeps takes a whole new look at vampirism. Not a completely factual one since the legends started as a word to label people who drank blood and were considered a type of serial killer. Peeps is a factual book that opened my eyes to the lovely world of parasites. In the book Scott Westerfield takes a few chapters to explain certain parasites and the effects they have on us. M favorite was the chapter on Toxoplasma Ghondii. Which is a parasite that is spread by cats and actually changes the way rats perceive cats. The infected rats are no longer afraid of cats and actually become attracted to their odor. Now when people are infected they simply become more extroverted and partake in more risk-taking behaviors. Basically they become more outgoing and brave. That is just one of the several parasites and I plan to read that book again now just to see what all I have forgotten.
For those who follow me fairly faithfully you may recall my rant about the fortune cookie not being a fortune but just a statement. Now I understand the importance to the statement. It was a quote by the famous cartoonist, Walt Disney.
I stumbled upon this fact while scrolling through my lovely quotes app, Brilliant Quotes. Which has a fantastic free version but if your not heartless you’ll purchase it to show support. This is a great app for people who enjoy quotes by famous people through history.
Now that I have realized this I began to wonder. How many times have I read a fortune cookie that was simply a saying by someone famous? Some times? Most times? It would be interesting to see if anyone has followed up on this.
Anyway I want you to think of fortune cookies you have opened over your years. If you have never had a fortune cookie or simply want a bunch of them check out amazon, they have 100 fortune cookies for under $20. Its a steal.
Nothing makes a good country night like a last second weenie roast. Invite the neighbors and make sure you have marshmallows for after. Then after the neighbors leave sit around the fire talking with family and listening to classic comedians. Summer nights are bliss in its essence.
Now for those of you who don’t know to make a quality smore you need a few things. For one get Jet Puff Marshmallows, packs of graham crackers that come in squares instead of rectangles (it is tricky to break them even), and for a more healthy Smore use high grade dark chocolate my preferred kind is 90% Lindt Supreme Dark Chocolate. The reason it is more healthy, credit not good for you and by no means are Smores healthy to begin with, but if you consume a dark chocolate with a high percentage of cocoa it is good for your arteries and mental acuity. They actually do recommend eating a little bit of dark chocolate to promote healthy living.
There is an amazing video game that 79% of gamers have never heard of. Dokapon Kingdom, also known as the un-friend game, is a great video game. The best think to compare it to is Mario Party crossed with Super Smash Bros. The battle modes are simpler and the turns are a lot more fun. Basically the kingdom of Dokapon is all about money, but monsters have swarmed the land and it is up to 2-4 heroes to clear the land. This is not a quickly done game there are a total of 8 chapters. You battle your way across the land, battling in the underworld and in the heavens as well.
There are a great number of characters, sadly not so many sprites to take over those characters. You’ll notice that the Hafling, which is just a man, looks like a different colored Bandit. They did change up the colors so as long as you aren’t colorblind you’ll notice the difference.
The reason it is called the un-friend game is because you can attack the other players. This just means when you think you are gonna win the game one of your friends can swing by and rob you, leaving you dead and back at the beginning.
If you would like to look into this game a little more here is a link to RarrelBolledandK; http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBD634DD826B163BC These were the videos I found that made me want to play this game and eventually led to me getting it.
Now if you are more intune with youtube and know about Team Hypercube and their members, who have been parts of the Wrock Age, here is a link to their playing of Dokapon Kingdom; http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9pQte_F3GWMU-CF-sa21T4WsswpF3pBE
As of lately I have been pondering a song. One that lists each piece of my wardrobe. The probably with me doing that though is that I have no musical talent. So if anyone would like to do this I encourage you to do so. Also if it is not too much just slip my Tumblr account in there somewhere. I do like to take credit for my ideas no matter how hare brained and idiotic they may be. They are MINE!
Alright for those of you who don’t know I do have a big five in sports. First is soccer, second quidditch, third skateboarding, fourth footbag net, and lastly volleyball. Today I will mention the third, skateboarding. I just saw a video of Mitchie Brusco doing a 1080 on the mega ramp. For those of you who don’t follow skateboarding up til Mitchie did his 1080, which is spinning 1080 degrees around, the most spins was 900 degrees. The first 900 was done by the legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk, who most people have at least heard of. My favorite part about Mitchie doing his 1080 was Tony Hawk’s expression. Since he is such a legend he was commentating for the Big Air competition, so they got a close up of his face when Mitchie landed it. I feel like anyone who amazes Tony Hawk deserves equal worship. Especially since he is only 15 years old.
